Herbs, perennial, taprooted, pubescent, hairs glandular-capitate and eglandular. Stems decumbent or ascending, branched near base and at distal nodes. Leaves alternate, sessile; blade margins entire. Inflorescences terminal or pseudoterminal, appearing axillary, solitary flowers. Flowers 5-merous, slightly bilaterally symmetric; calyx accrescent, oblong-campanulate, lobes 5, narrowly deltate to oblong, tightly enclosing and slightly exceeding fruit; corolla white or white tinged with lavender, slightly bilateral, funnelform, lobes broadly ovate, suborbiculate, or rhombic, apically rounded; stamens 4, sometimes plus a 5th, inserted in proximal 1/2 of corolla tube, ± didynamous; anthers basifixed, ovate, ± unequal, that of 5th stamen sometimes smaller, dehiscing by longitudinal slits; ovary 2-locular; style filiform; stigma subreniform. Fruits cap­sules, ellipsoid, (4-valved). Seeds prismatic, faces irregular. x = 8.

Species 3 (1 in the flora): Texas, Mexico, Central America, South America (Argentina).
