Meiotheciopsis Brotherus
Plants small, yellowish green, glossy. Stems 1-2 cm, not complanate-foliate, irregularly branched. Leaves erect to erect-spreading, homomallous, lanceolate; margins entire; apex gradually short-acuminate; ecostate or occasionally costa double; alar cells rounded, enlarged, scarcely inflated, pigmented, walls thin, region in 1 row, middle lamella not apparent, supra-alar cells differentiated; laminal cells long-rhomboidal, smooth. Sexual condition autoicous. Seta 0.2-0.4 cm. Capsule erect to suberect, short-cylindric; exothecial cell walls somewhat collenchymatous; operculum rostrate.
Species 5 (1 in the flora): Florida, Mexico, West Indies, Central America, n South America, c Africa.
