1. Oxystylis lutea Torrey & Frémont in J. C. Frémont, Rep. Exped. Rocky Mts. 313. 1845.
Plants 10-60(-150) cm. Leaves: stipules crinkled; petiole 1.4-7 cm; petiolules 2-4 mm; leaflet blade elliptic to elliptic-obovate, 1.5-5 × 0.5-2.5 cm, margins entire, apex obtuse. Racemes dense, ca. 1 cm (2-3 cm in fruit); bracts unifoliate, 2-4 mm. Pedicels sparsely glandular, 1-2 mm. Flowers: sepals green, lanceolate, 1.4-1.7 × 0.2-0.3 mm, margins entire, glabrous; petals yellow, oblong to ovate, 2-4 × 1-1.6 mm; stamens yellow, 4-4.5 mm; anthers 1-1.2 mm; gynophore 0.1-0.2 mm in fruit; ovary 0.3 mm; style 0.8-1 mm. Schizocarps 1 × 0.6 mm, smooth. Seeds 0.5 × 0.3 mm. 2n = 20, 40.
