Flowers: tepals yellow, 11–12 mm; basal filament appendages 2-cuspidate, aristate, cusps 1–2 mm, less than 1/2 length of filaments, apex acute.
Flowering spring (Apr--Jun). Foothill woodlands; 0--1700 m; Calif.
Variety aurea is restricted to the southern Coast Ranges.
