Perianth: tube 10-20 mm, limb seldom more than 15 mm diam. Fruits 5-8 mm, strongly rugose veined, often appearing pitted.
Flowering winter-summer. Sandy soils, creosote bushscrub; 0-1000 m; Ariz., Calif., Nev., Utah; nw Mexico (Baja California, Sonora).
Under favorable moisture conditions, Abronia villosa var. villosa may flower in late summer and fall.
