Stems glabrous or sometimes sparsely glandular-hairy when young. Leaf blade margins glandular-hairy.
Flowering Jun-Sep. Subalpine and red fir forests; 2100- 3700 m; Calif., Nev.
Subspecies californica is endemic to the Sierra Nevada.
