Leaf blades pale green abaxially, usually deep green adaxially, abaxial surface densely puber-ulent with scattered, stipitate-glandular trichomes. Flowers: calyx strongly puberulent, usually not stipitate-glandular; corolla usually densely puberulent adaxially.
Flowering Apr-May. Shrubby bogs, pocosins, streamhead ecotones, pine savannas; 0-1300 m; Ga., N.C., S.C., Tenn., Va.
