Leaf blades slightly fleshy, mar-gins 9-12 toothed. Inflores-cences somewhat congested, tangled-ascending hairy. Pistils connate most of their lengths. Capsules 6-12 mm. 2n = 72.
Flowering summer. Stream banks, wet areas; 0-1000 m; B.C., Yukon.
Variety carlottae is known mostly from the Queen Charlotte Islands and adjacent coastal British Columbia.
