Leaf blades thick, fleshy, margins 12-18-toothed. Inflorescences congested, tangled ascending-hairy. Pistils connate most of their lengths. Capsules 3-8 mm.
Flowering summer. Wet tundra, stream banks; 0-1000 m; Alaska; e Asia (Japan, Russian Far East).
In the flora area, variety insularis is known only from the Aleutian Islands.
