Leaf blades not glaucous, obovate, 15-40 × 17-33 mm, apex deeply emarginate. Flowering shoots 15-30 cm; leaf blades not glaucous, spatulate to oblanceolate, base cordate, not clasping stem. Flowers: sepals 3-4 mm, apex acute; petals pink or white, 7-10 mm; anthers red or yellow. 2n = 30.
Flowering late spring-mid summer. Rocky slopes; 50-600 m; Calif.
Variety latifolium is known from the drainage of the Smith River and is the most robust of the varieties.
