Plants usually eglandular, rarely glandular, distinctly canescent. Stems branched basally or just distal to base, branched distally. Racemes: rachis often densely pubescent, eglandular. Fruiting pedicels divaricate to ascending, forming 30-60º angle, (4-)6-12 mm. Flowers: sepals purple or rose, 1-2 mm; petals 1.5-2 × 0.3-0.5 mm.

Flowering mid Mar-Apr. Gravelly and stony hills, desert grasslands, roadsides; 1400-2000 m; Ariz., N.Mex., Tex.; Mexico (Chihuahua).
