Shrubs or trees 3–4 m. Stems erect, branched; branchlets glabrous. Leaf blades ovate or sometimes elliptic, 10–40 × 5–7 mm, margins shallowly crenate or entire. Inflorescences: peduncle 7–12 mm. Flowers: petals reddish or purplish, ovate to suborbiculate, 1 mm. Drupes obovoid, 5–6 × 2–3 mm.
Flowering year-round; fruiting year-round. Pinelands, hammocks, sand dunes; 0–10 m; Fla.; s Mexico; West Indies.
In the flora area, Crossopetalum rhacoma occurs in Miami-Dade, Monroe (Keys only), and Sarasota counties.
