Annual or perennial herbs. Stems erect or decumbent, branched. Leaves alternate, toothed or lyrate-pinnatifid. Heads disciform, heterogamous, globose or hemispheric, many-flowered, in terminal loose panicles or racemes. Involucral bracts 1 or 2 seriate, subequal, ovate, scarious. Receptacle convex or turbinate, naked. Outer florets pistillate, in several rows, tubular, fertile, white or yellow. Central disc florets bisexual, fertile, tubular, 4- or 5-lobed. Achenes oblanceolate-oblong, slightly compressed, glabrous, but basally and apically glandular. Pappus of few easily deciduous bristles or absent.

About five species in warm regions of Africa and Asia; one species in Taiwan.
