Annual or perennial, herbs. Stems prostrate and ascending, sometimes erect. Leaves alternate, oblong-obovate to spatulate, more or less lyrate-pinnatifid or serrate-dentate. Heads heterogamous, usually solitary, axillary and terminal, peduncled, disciform. Involucre broadly campanulate, bracts in 2 or 3 series, subequal, elliptic-oblong, ciliate along margins, herbaceous. Receptacle convex, naked. Outer florets pistillate, in 1 to several rows, narrowly tubular. Central disc florets numerous in several series, corolla tubular-campanulate, 4- or 5-lobed; anthers obtuse at base; style branches short, truncate in disc florets, elongate in outer florets. Achenes ellipsoid-obovoid, slightly compressed, pubescent. Pappus united and cup shaped at base and fimbriate on margins or absent.
About 10 species in tropical Africa and Asia; one species in Taiwan.
