Epiphytic herbs with creeping rhizomes. Pseudobulbs well spaced on rhizomes, with a solitary leaf at apex. Leaf erect, narrow, coriaceous. Inflorescence arising from base of pseudobulb, with many closely arranged bract-like sheaths basally. Flowers few, perianth spreading; sepals subequal; petals similar to sepals; lip adnate to foot of column, rigid, 3-lobed or unlobed; column very short, with a prominent foot; anther terminal, procumbent, operculate, mainly 2-celled, cells transversely separated; pollinia 4, nearly equal in size, attached in pairs to 2 clavate viscidia; stigma entire; rostellum shallowly 2-lobed.
About 20 species, from the Himalaya, India, southern China, and Indochina to Thailand. One species in Taiwan.
