Annual or biennial branched herbs, strigose. Leaves opposite, toothed, petiole winged. Heads disciform, small, sessile or pedunculate, axillary, solitary or in a dichasium, heterogamous. Involucre globose or oblong, bracts and outer paleae oblong, usually foliaceous, inner paleae slightly smaller and narrowly oblong, scarious, flat. Ray florets ligulate, marginal, 1- or 2-seriate, fertile, corolla 2- or 3-lobed. Disc florets fertile, corolla 4-lobed. Anthers subentire or short bifid at base. Ray achenes flattened dorsally, 2-winged, wings lacerate, awned at apex. Disc achenes narrowly oblong, flat, 2-awned.

Two species in tropical America and Asia; one species in Taiwan.
