Vanoverberghia Merr., Phil. J. Sci. 7(2):76. 1912.

法氏薑屬

Erect herbs. Leaves oblong, apex sharply long-caudate with a flagellate tip twisting, ligules reddish brown, entire, rounded. Inflorescences racemose, terminal on pseudostem, sometimes pendulous; bracts spathaceous, translucent-white with a brownish tip; bracteoles absent. Flowers pink to white, persistent and turning brown after anthesis; calyx 3-dentate; corolla tube shorter than calyx; lobes oblong; labellum connate to lateral petals as high as middle of labellum, free part split into two linear or subulate lobes, of which apex slightly bifid; filament channeled on the inside, enclosing style up to half length of filament, spirally coiled after anthesis; staminodes linear; nectaries absent; ovary 3-locular. Capsules ellipsoid or subglobose, glabrous, with faintly longitudinal costae, dehiscing into three divisions. Seeds many, form irregular.

Two species in the Philippines and Lanyu Is. One species in Taiwan.
