Actinidia callosa var. ephippioidea C. F. Liang, Fl. Reip. Popul. Sin. 49(2):315. 1984.


Climbing shrubs to 4 m or more long; branchlets glabrous; pith brownish white, lamellate. Leaves chartaceous, broadly ovate to broadly obovate, 6-11 cm long, 4-9 cm broad, obtuse or cuspidate at apex, less cordate at base, margins ephippioides double serrate, acerose. Leaves glabrous or sparsely tomentose in vein angles on upper surface, tomentose in vein axils on lower surface, lateral veins 6-8 per side; petioles raddish-brown, 3-8 cm long, Inflorescences axillary cymes, glabrous; sepals sparsely tomentose. Fruit oblong, ca. 3 cm long, ca.2 cm across, brown, glabrescent, sometimes scabrous at base, spotted.
