Artemisia niitakayamensis var. tsugitakaensis Kitam.
Herbs perennial, 10-20 cm tall, sparsely short branched upward, puberulous. Petiole of lowermost and middle cauline leaves short, blade elliptic, ovate or elliptic-obovate, 1-2.5×0.7-1.4 cm, bipinnatisect, segments 4(-5) pairs, lobes 2-8×0.6-1 mm; bracts pinnatisect or undivided, undivided bracts lanceolate to linear-lanceolate. Inflorescences racemose or racemose-paniculate. Heads semiglobose or subglobose, 7-10 mm in diam., peduncle 0.5-1.5(-2) cm long, margins of involucral bracts scarious, lacerate. Outer florets 8-12. Central florets 30-40. Achenes oblong or ovoid-oblong.

Endemic; alpine situations, ca. 3,000 m.
