Branched annuals 10-60 cm tall; stems nearly glabrous below, pilose red capitate glands near inflorescence. Leaves short petiolate, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, to 5×3.5 cm, sparingly serrate, 3-nerved. Involucre semi-globose. Ray florets 5, white, without pappus; disc florets with awnless pappus scales about equalling or longer than corolla. Achenes strigillose. Chromosome number, 2n = 16 (Peng & Hsu, 1978).

Native of tropical America, now a cosmopolitan weed. Taiwan, naturalized around farms and villages, 1,500-2,100 m.
Similar to G. quadriradiata, differing in being less pilose and in characters shown in the key to species.
