Bulbophyllum somai Hayata
Rhizomes elongate, terete, ca. 1 mm in diam., leafy at nodes. Pseudobulbs absent. Leaves from rhizome at intervals of 1-1.5 cm, nearly sessile, elliptic or oblong, 0.6-2 cm long, 4-10 mm wide, obtuse, fleshy, pale green on both surfaces, midrib obscure. Scapes arising from rhizomes, 1.5-6 cm tall, ca. 0.5 mm in diam., with 2 or 3 sheath-like scales below; bracts tube-like, with wide oblique opening, 1.5-2 mm long; pedicel and ovary 4-5 mm. Flower solitary, pale yellow; sepals subequal, linear-lanceolate, 916 mm long, 3-4 mm wide, acute, lateral ones slightly longer and wider; petals elliptic to obovate, 3-4 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, rounded or sometimes retuse at apex; lip yellowish or often tinged with red except along central canal, ovate, 4 mm long, 2.5 mm wide, apex obtuse and recurved, disc with 2 dark purplish ridges and a canal between them, sometimes canal with many minute spots; column 1.5-2 mm long, foot 3-3.5 mm long; anther cap triangular or ovate, 1 mm long; pollinia 2, ovoid, free.
