Bulbophyllum viridiflorum Hayata
Rhizomes short or obscure. Pseudobulbs closely aggregated, often arranged in 1 row, erect or prostrate, ovoid, 1-2.5 cm tall, 0.8-1.3 cm in diam., narrowed toward apex, glabrous and lustrous. Leaves erect, oblong, 3-10 cm long, 1.5-2 cm wide, obtuse at apex, cuneate at base, nearly sessile, green above, pale below. Scapes arising from base of pseudobulb, suberect or horizontal, 2-4 cm long, enclosed by a tubular sheath near base, sheath cup-shaped, with wide oblique opening; bracts cup shaped, 1 cm long, mouth broadened and oblique, minutely punctate; pedicel and ovary 3-4 cm long, pale green. Flowers solitary, pale green, with greenish veins or with minute dark purplish dots along veins, ca. 4 cm in diam.; dorsal sepal concave, ovate, 2-2.5 cm long, 1-1.4 cm wide, acute at apex; lateral sepals obliquely ovate, 2.3 -2.5 cm long, 1.5-1.8 cm wide, slightly oblique; petals elliptic 1.7-2 cm long, 1-1.3 cm wide, acute or obtuse; lip yellowish green above, nearly white below, attached to apex of column foot, fleshy, thick, triangular, 1.5 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, upper part spongy, with dense minute brownish spots, apex recurved, basal part thinner and extending into wing-like auricle, auricle serrate or nearly entire; column whitish, 5-6 mm long, without distinct wings or stylids, foot L-shaped, extending downward for 1.5 cm long and then upturned for 1.5 cm long; anther pale yellow, conic, ca. 3.5 mm long; pollinia 4, nearly equal in shape and size, semi ovoid, in 2 pairs, connected by viscid material. Capsules fusiform, more than 3 cm long.
