    Terrestrial or sometimes epiphytic. Roots 2-4 mm in diam., often tapering. Pseudobulbs tufted, conic-ovoid or ellipsoid, ca. 2 cm long, with 3 or 4 nodes, enclosed by scales. Leaves 5-8, linear-oblong or linear, 15-30 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, apex acuminate, narrow and overlapping at base, margins +/undulate. Scapes arising with young leaves, 40-50 cm long, greenish or tinged reddish brown, glabrous or short pubescent; rachis 25-30 cm long; bracts linear lanceolate, 1.5-2.2 cm long, 3-6 mm wide; pedicel and ovary 1.5-2.5 cm long, ovary short pubescent. Flowers 8-15, loosely spaced, ca. 3.5 cm in diam.; sepals green outside, brownish red inside, with green veins and margins or rarely reddish brown throughout, dorsal one lanceolate, 1.5-2 cm long, 5-6 mm wide, acuminate at apex, contracted at base; lateral ones falcate, lanceolate, oblique, slightly longer than dorsal one; petals same color as sepals, linear, 1.5-2 cm long, 1.5-2 mm wide; lip white or tinged with purple toward apex, 1.2-1.8 cm long, ca. 1 cm wide, spurred, 3-lobed or rarely nearly unlobed, lateral lobes oblong, truncate at apex, central lobe elliptic-rectangular, 1 cm long, caudate at apex, narrowed toward base, margins wavy or slightly crispate, disc with 2 prominent basal ridges and 3 slender keels; spur ca. 5 mm long, curving forward; column yellowish white, connate with base of lip, 4-5 mm long; anther ovoid, ca. 3 mm long; pollinia flattened clavate, tapering toward caudicles and attached to a clavate or oblong viscidium; stigma solitary, rostellum shallowly 2-lobed.
