Leaves alaternate, oblong-ovate to elliptic, 3-13 cm long, 1-4 cm wide, acuminate at apex, cuneate at base, dark brown above, pale below, thew margins entire, the petioles 5-15 mm long, usually confinded to the upper part of plant. Flowers yellow, axillary, solitary; pedicles 3-5 cm long; the bracts linear-lanceolate 2-4 mm long; calyx deeply cleft, 5-lobed, the lobes ovate, acuminate, minutely glandula-ciliolate within; corolla deeply parted, the lobes ovate or lanceolate, 7-15 mm long, 3-5 mm wide, acute at apex; stamens 5, shorter than the petals; anthers 3-5 mm long, opening by pores; ovary glabrous, style 4-6 mm long. Capsules globose, white, 4-6 mm in diameter, with persistent style, longitudinally dehiscent; seeds black. Flowers: Apr.-Jun.
