Saccolabium quasipinifolium Hayata
Stems to 5 cm long, base with persistent leaf sheaths and dense roots. Roots 10-30 cm long, 2 mm in diam. Leaves often 8-10 or more, needle-like, reniform in cross section, 7-16 cm long, 3 mm wide, apex acute, base articulated with sheath; sheath ca. 1 cm long, equitant, divaricate from stem at an angle of ca. 45 degrees. Peduncle greenish, tinged with purple, with purple spots, 5-10 cm long, with 2 or 3 tubular sheaths below; bracts lanceolate, 8 mm long; pedicel and ovary 2-3 cm long. Flowers 1-5, white, tinged with pink on midrib of perianth; dorsal sepal obovate-oblong, 10-15 mm long, 4-6 mm wide, acute; lateral sepals falcate, 12-17 mm long, 6-8 mm wide, apex acute, base oblique, margins +/-crisped or incurved; petals elongate-oblong, 10-18 mm long, 4-6 mm wide, apex obtuse, base contracted, often twisted; lip with a slender spur, 3 lobed at opening for spur; lateral lobes erect, rectangular, falcate, 5-6 mm long, midlobe obovate-cuneate, convex, 10-15 mm long, 7-10 mm wide, apex truncate, denticulate,base cuneate, with many thick narrow calli near base; spur 1-1.8 cm long, tapering to apex; column 6 mm long, with narrow wings at apex; anther cap ovate, 4.5 mm long; pollinia 1.5-2 mm in diam.; stipe lanceolate, 3.5 mm long; viscidium rhombic. Capsules cylindrical, 3-4 cm long.
