Pseudobulbs ovoid or conic, ca. 3 cm long. Leaves 3-5, nearly distichous, linear-lanceolate, 30-80 cm long, 5-7 cm wide, apex acuminate or acute, base cuneate, distinctly plicate; petiole 10-20 cm long. Peduncle purplish, 50-80 cm long, with many tubular scales; bracts lanceolate, ca. 1.5 cm long; pedicel slender, 1-2 cm long; ovary cylindrical, 1.5 cm long. Flowers ca. 10, opening successively, purple; sepals ovate, 1.5-1.8 cm long, 8-10 mm wide, acute, 5-7-nerved, keeled outside; petals broadly obovate,
1.8 cm long, 1.2-1.4 cm wide, obtuse or rounded at apex, contracted at base; lip 1.6-2.3 cm long, 3lobed, lateral lobes falcate or elongate rectangular, 6-8 mm long, 2 mm wide, erect below lower part of column, truncate at apex, central lobe 13-15 mm long, lower part long clawed, apical part dilated and flabellate, apex truncate, often emarginate or 2-lobed, with 2 fleshy hirsute calli on disc near base; column 1.5 cm long, curved, slightly dilated at apex.
