白花豆蘭

Small tufted decumbent or ascending epiphytes. Rhizomes erect, stem-like, rigid, enclosed by sheaths. Pseudobulbs absent. Leaves subsecund, sessile, from rhizome at close intervals, elliptic or oblong, 2-3.5 cm long, 5-9 mm wide, apex obtuse or retuse, base with 2 minute membranaceous sheaths, fleshy, glabrous on both surfaces. Scapes 1-2 cm long, erect, slender, with a few sheaths at base; bracts triangular-lanceolate, 2-3 mm long, acute, membranaceous; pedicel and ovary ca. 5 mm long. Flowers usually 2, whitish or pale yellow, not widely opening; dorsal sepal concave, oblong, 4-5 mm long, 2 mm wide, acute, 3-nerved; lateral sepals obliquely triangular, 5-6 mm long, 3 mm wide, apex acute, base adnate to column foot forming a short mentum; petals oblong-spatulate, 2-3 mm long, 0.7 mm wide, 1-nerved; lip yellow, articulated with column foot, thin membranaceous, elliptic, 2.5 mm long, acute and recurved at apex, attenuate at base, entire, 3-nerved; column short, 1 mm long, laterally with square wings extending at apex into short acute stylids, foot 2.5 mm long, with broad base and narrow tip; anther cordate; pollinia 2, yellow.

Southern China (Hainan). Taiwan, only in a few localities at ca. 1,000 m in northern and eastern mountainous areas.
