Gastrodia stapfii Hayata
Rhizome cylindrical, about 15 cm long, densely annulate. Stem up to 60 cm long, distantly noded and sheathed. Raceme 5-20 cm long, distantly 4-18-flowered; bracts broad, ca. 0.4 cm long. Flowers urceolate, pale yellowish brown, 1.3 cm across; sepals and petals joined together at base, tube inflated at base, 5-lobed at apex, smooth outside, 10-11 mm long, dorsal sepal joined for 3/4 of its length with petals, lateral sepals connate for 3/4 of their length with petals at one edge, other edge separated to base; petals nearly as long as sepals; lip spatulate, yellow outside, unlobed, 8-9 mm long, acute at apex, long clawed at base, blade rhombic, 5-6 mm long, 5-6 mm wide, involute at lateral edges, rugose and thickened at disc, claw 3-4 mm long, thickened at edges; column hemispherical, 6-8 mm long, yellowish white, narrowly winged, apex 3-lobed; column-foot prominent, about 3 mm long; anther ovate; stigma at base of column. Capsules cylindrical, 2 cm long, pedicel not elongating in fruit.
