少葉薑

Rhizomes yellowish, ca. 1 cm in diameter, often with ellipsoid root-tubers. Pseudostem 30-60 cm. Leaves oblanceolate, ligule inconspicuous, entire, ca. 2 mm tall, membranous; petiole 1-2 cm, with decurrent wing; leaf blade oblanceolate or elliptic, 20–30  4–8 cm, glabrous or abaxially pubescent, apex caudate. Inflorescences arising from rhizomes, ellipsoid, 5–7 cm; peduncle 5-10 cm, with 4-6 scale-like sheaths; bracts pale green, turn reddish brown towards apex, margin purple red, oblong, apex obtuse, margin incurved; bracteoles tubular, 2.4 cm, pale green, apex purple red; calyx tubular, pale yellowish-green, ca. 1 cm, apex truncate, split unilaterally; corolla tube ca. 2.5 cm, gradually wider towards apex, yellowish; dorsal corolla-lobe lanceolate, 14  5-6 mm; lateral corolla-lobes narrower, narrow triangular, ca. 14 × 4 mm, revolute; labellum 3-lobed, rhombic in outline, yellowish, ca. 12 mm; central lobe spatulate, ca. 11  5 mm, apex dentate; lateral lobes oblanceolate, ca. 6  3.5 mm, apex dentate; anther ca. 8 mm; connective appendage ca. 6 mm; ovary sericeous. Capsules ovoid to ellipsoid, enclosed in persistent bracts, loculicidally dehiscent; pericarp orange inside. Seeds black; aril white, sac-like, apex lacerate.

Endemic, in southern Taiwan.
