Plant epipetric; deciduous; acaulenscent with creeping, rhizomes, monoecious. Rhizomes moniliform, consisting of several ellipsoid to subglobose units each 9-55 mm long, 7-25 mm thick. Stipules persistent triangular, apex acute to acuminate, margins entire, 7-22 mm long, 5-18 mm wide, glabrous.Leaves many, herbaceous, asymmetric, ovate to broadly ovate, shallowly lobed, apex acuminate to cuspidate, base unequally cordate, margins irregularly dentate-serrate, 13-38 cm long, 10-32 cm wide, glabrous, lobes (number), (shape), apex (shape); venation palmate; petioles 7-40 mm long, to 9 across, glabrous.Inflorescences arise from rhizomes; peduncles (inflorescence axis), to 42 cm long, 8 mm across, glabrous, erect. Bracts caducous, (color), narrowly ovate to elliptic, apex acute, margins serrate, 8-12 mm long, 3.5-6.5 mm wide, glabrous. Flowers of both sexes pinkish, glabrous, scented spreading. Staminate flowers: tepals 4, outer two rotund to orbicular, 13-35 mm long, 9-32 mm wide, inner two oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, 10-32 mm long, 6-18 mm wide; androecium actinomorphic; stamens 51-74, yellow, golf-club shaped, filaments free, 0.9-2.7 mm long; anthers narrowly obovate, 1.8-2.3 mm long, 0.8-1.2 mm across. Pistillate flowers: tepals 3 (very rarely 2 or 4, the fourth much reduce when present), unequal, outer 2 opposite, rotund to oblate, 16-32 mm long, 14-37 mm wide, inner one oblanceolate to obovate, 12-23 mm long, 7-23 mm wide; ovary (color) when blooming, glabrous, inferior; styles 2, yellow, free, forked once, 4.2-5.3 mm long; stigmas in a band and spiraled. Fruits capsular, dehiscence, erect / pendent / nodding / recurved toward the substrate, (color), trigonous, unequally 3-winged, abaxial wing narrowly triangular, 27-46 mm long, 9-15 mm wide, lateral wings broadly triangular, 2-4 mm long, 9-14 mm wide; locules 2, axile placentation, placental branches 4 per locule.
