    Plant terrestrial or epipetric; evergreen; with long creeping rhizomes from which upright stems arise, monoecious. Stems 35-90 cm long, to 23 mm across, rusty villose. Rhizomes ___ cm long, to 21 mm across, (hair). Stipules caducous, narrowly ovate to ovate, apex acuminate, margins entire, to 28 mm long, 18 mm wide, rusty villous abaxially. Leaves many, basal and cauline, herbaceous, asymmetric, broadly ovate to very broadly ovate, shallowly lobed, divided to 1/3 of leaf length at most, apex acuminate, base cordate, margins irregularly denticulate or serrulate, 7-31 cm long, 6-27 cm wide, very densely scabrous, hirsute or rusty villose on both surface, hirsute at margins; venation palmate; petioles, 6-27 mm long, 8 mm across, densely rusty villous, lobes (number), (shape), apex (shape). Inflorescences arise from stem, 9-24 cm long, densely rusty villous; peduncles (inflorescence axis) 6-16 cm long, to 4 mm across, erect. Bracts caducous, ovate, apex acute, margins ciliate, 7-15 mm long, 4-8 mm wide, densely villous. Flowers of both sexes pinkish, outer tepals densely villous. Staminate flowers: tepals 4, outer two obovate to orbicular, 10-26 mm long, 9-24 mm wide, inner two oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, 9-24 mm long, 5-9 mm wide; androecium actinomorphic; stemans 116-187, golf-club shaped, yellow, filaments free, 0.8-2.4 mm long; anthers narrowly obovoid, 1.9-2.3 mm long, 0.9-1.2 mm across. Pistillate flowers: tepals 5-6(7), oblanceolate to orbicular, unequal, the largest 9-24 mm long, 8-22 mm wide, the smallest 8-21 mm long, 4-9 mm wide; ovary (color) when blooming, inferior, rusty villous; styles 2, yellow, free, forked once, 4.9-5.6 mm long; stigmas in a band and spiraled. Fruits capsular, dehiscence, nodding, trigonous, unequally 3-winged, abaxial wing triangular, elliptic to narrowly oblong, 15-32 mm long, 7-14 mm wide, lateral wings 4-6 mm long, 6-13 mm wide; locules 2, axile placentation, placental branches 2 per locule.
