Leaves 4-5 on each pseudobulb, narrowly linear, 40-50 cm long, 2.5-5 mm wide, more or less stiff, erect or ascending, apex acute, recurved toward base, cross section at middle part U-shaped, obscurely serrulate. Flowers similar to typical variety.

Southern China and Japan. Taiwan, usually found in sunny grassland or under forests at steep rocky slopes ranging from 800 to 3000 m in elevations.
This variety differs from typical phase in shorter and narrower leaves. Its habitats are also different.
