狗舌草

    Stems scapiform, erect, 20-65 cm long, densely cobwebby and slightly purplish in upper part. Radical leaves rosulate, oblong, rarely obovate-oblong, 5-10×1.5-2.5 cm, apex obtuse, mucronulate, gradually narrowed at base, usually sessile, rarely short petiolate, margins irregularly mucronulate-dentate, cobwebby on both surfaces. Cauline leaves few, remotely arranged, gradually smaller upward; lower leaves ascending, lanceolate, 7-11 cm×10-15 mm, apex obtuse, base semi-clasping, decurrent; upper cauline leaves linear-lanceolate, acuminate, base broadly clasping. Heads 3-9, in corymbs or false umbels; peduncle 1.5-5 cm long; involucre tubular, 8×11 mm, ecalyculate, bracts lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, purplish. Ray florets in 1 series, corolla yellow, 12-16 mm long. Disc florets: corolla 8.5-10 mm long, lobes 1 mm long. Achenes cylindric, ca. 2.5 mm long, densely pilose. Pappus ca. 11 mm long, white.

    China, Korea and Japan. Taiwan, sunny slopes and dry grasslands in mountains at mid elevations, not collected for more than 60 years.
