Thrixspermum pendulicaule (Hayata) Schltr.
Stems pendulous, 0.3-0.7(-2) m long, strongly compressed, leafy throughout, covered by equitant leaf-sheaths; internodes ca. 2 cm long. Leaves distichous, oblong, 4-7 cm long, 2-2.5 cm wide, acute or obtuse, thick, fleshy, margin sharp, conduplicate especially near base, articulated with sheath; sheath 34 cm long, rather rigid. Racemes 2 cm long; bracts ovate-triangular, 2-3 mm long; pedicel and ovary 89 mm long. Flowers few, white, often tinged with pale yellow or pale green abaxially, lasting only half a day; sepals elliptic ovate, 9 mm long, 4-5 mm wide, lateral sepals broader; petals elliptic, 9 mm long, 3.5-4 mm wide, contracted at base; lip white, with orange yellow spots, subsaccate, concave, 3-lobed, 6 mm long, 9 mm wide, lateral lobes erect, triangular, falcate, midlobe inconspicuous, slightly down-curved, with a 2-lobed callus, disc nearly glabrous, with a slightly raised longitudinal callus at base; column 3 mm long, foot nearly as long; anther cap oval, 1 mm long. Capsules cylindric-filiform, to 10 cm long, 5 mm thick.
