Epigeneium sanseiense (Hayata) Summerh.
Rhizomes obscure. Pseudobulbs prostrate or suberect, obliquely fusiform, rooting at base, 2-3 cm long, ca. 1 cm in diam., usually yellow or yellowish green, with membranaceous scales, deeply sulcate in age. Leaves coriaceous, elliptic to oblong-obovate, 2-5 cm long, 1-1.5 cm wide, apex rounded, emarginate, base narrowed or cuneate, articulated with pseudobulb. Peduncle 1-2.5 cm long, enclosed by tubular sheath; bracts ovate, 3-4 mm long; pedicel and ovary 1-2 cm long. Flower greenish, tinged with orange, patent, ca. 2.5 cm in diam.; dorsal sepal triangular-ovate, 12-17 mm long 7-8 mm wide, acute; lateral sepals oblong-lanceolate, 14-19 mm long, 6-8 mm wide, apex acute, base oblique, adnate to foot of column and forming mentum ca. 8 mm long; petals oblong-linear, 14-18 cm long, 4 mm wide, adnate to foot of column, slightly oblique at base; lip obovate or lyrate when expanded, 15-19 mm long, 8-9 mm wide, 3-lobed, central lobe nearly orbicular or broadly obovate, 7-8 mm long, apex short cuspidate or emarginate, lateral lobes erect, disc longitudinally 2-keeled; column 2 mm long, foot 8-10 mm long, 6-7 mm wide, concave, developed into elevated walls laterally; anther yellow, hood-like,1.3 mm long; pollinia 4, ovate-oblong. Fruit fusiform, 2-3 cm long.
