Athyrium nigripes (Bl.) Moore

Rhizome erect; scales ovate, thin, pale brown. Stipe slender, stramineous, tufted, sparselly scaly at base, 6-16 cm long; lamina narrowly lanceolate, 15-25 cm long, about 4-6 cm wide, bipinnate, upper surface with spine-like processes borne along the costa, costules and veins; pinnae petiolate, basal 1-3 pairs of pinnules petiolate, medial pinnules sessile or adnate; rachis stramineous, grooved above, basal pinnules of the lower and median pinnae deeply lobed. SOri linear, borne along basal part of veinlets; indusia brown, erose, usually straight, sometimes J-shaped and crossing a veinlet.

Taiwan, China and Japan.
