水蔗草屬
Perennials; culms solid, hard. Leaf blade narrowly linear, flat, gradually narrowed into a short pseudo-petiole, apex very acute, rough on both sides, glabrous, midnerve pale, the highest leaves small or rudimentary. Inflorescence consisting of a solitary raceme of 1 sessile and 2 pedicelled spikelets, placed on a swollen, hollow, very short rachis; raceme articulate with tip of slender, short peduncle, enclosed within spathe-like, many-nerved uppermost leaf sheath; peduncled racemes arranged in sympodial fascicles, interrupted by accessory prophylls, placed in axils of spathe-like leaves; fascicles arranged in a leafy panicle terminating the culm. Spikelets 3, 1 sessile and 2 pedicelled. Sessile spikelets 2-flowered; glumes as long as spikelet, coriaceous; upper glume more convex than lower glume; lemma membranous; palea present.
Only one specie in Taiwan.
