短柄草屬
Perennial. Raceme linear, loose, its relatively few (rarely only 1) spikelets borne singly on a pedicel 0.5-2.5 mm long and divergent from a tough rhachis. Spilelets 5-20-flowered, elongated, subterete to lightly laterally compressed; glumes opposite lanceolate, hervaceous to membranous, shorter than lowest lemma, distinctly 3-9-nerved, rounded on back, obtuse to shortly awned; lemmas herbaceous t o firmly membranous but obtuse or sorlty awned from tip.
Temperate Eurasia, extending southwards on tropical mountains; Mexico to Bolivia.
Species 16. Woodland and open grassland.
