野青茅屬
Perennials; culms hollow. Blades linear, flat or with upwards inrolled margins. ligule membranous, well-developed. Inflorescence in open or contrated often much branched panicles. Spikelets terete and acute when young, afterwards laterally compressed, 1-flowered; rachilla arthiculate above the glumes, usually protruding or sometimes not; glumes usually as long as the spikelet, acute, membranous, keeled; lower glumes 1-nerved; upper glume 1 or 3-nerved; lemma herbaceous, more or less rough, apex 2-4-toothed or -lobed, 3-5-nerved, , usually with slender dorsal awn; with a tuft of hairs at the base of lemma, whcich never exceed lemma; palea as long as lemma or somewhat shorter.
About 200 species in the temperate regions.
