Eulaliopsis Honda, Bot. Mag. Tokyo. 37: 124. 1923.


Perennials; culms in dense tufts, the rhizomes and the sheath-bases protected by woolly hairs. Ligule a ring of cilia; blade narrow, inrolled and subulate. In- florescence of digitately arranged or clustered racemes. Spikelets paired, mono- morphic, the callus densely covered with golden soft hairs; rachis and pedicels compressed, jointed and obliquely articulating, basal part densely covered with soft hairs; lower glume thick papery, backside flat, or the margin narrowly inrolled on one side or both sides, 2-3-toothed at the blunt apex, 5-9-nerved; upper glume boat-shaped, 3-7-nerved, acute or shortly awned at the apex; lower lemma membranous, obtuse, ciliate or glabrous; upper lemma narrower, entire or 2-toothed, awned; palea broader, nearly as long as the lemma, glabrous or ciliate at the apex. Two species distributed in India, Burma, Thailand, China and extending to the Philippines.

Only one species, E. binata is found in Taiwan.
