Culm up to 40 cm tall, slender, 1.5 mmin diameter. Blade linear, acuminate at both ends, 14 cm long, 5 mm wide; ligule membranous, tongue-shaped, 3 mm long. Panicle open. Spikelets 5-flowered, 3-3.5 mm long, flattened, pendulous, orbicular to oblate; pedicel capillary, long; glumes chartaceous, folded, cordate, 3-nerved, apex rounded; the lower 2.5 mm long; the upper 2 mm long; lemma folded, middle part coriaceous, gibbous on back, -2.5 mm long, 7-9-nerved; palea 2/3 as long as lemmas, flat, narrowly winged on the keels.

Native to Mediterranean region; widespread in the world.
Only collected once around the Yangmingshan National Park.
