Culm 60-100 cm tall, 3 mm in diameter. Blade about 4 mm wide; ligule chartaceous, rounded at the apex, 4 mm long. Panicle contracted, branches racemose on the main axis. Spikelets 1-flowered, 5-6 mm long; glumes nearly equal, lanceolate, acute, 1-nerved, shortly bristled along nerves;s the lower slightly shorter than the upper. Floret lanceolate, 2.3 mm long; callus shortly pedicellate, covered with silky hairs, nearly as long as the floret; lemma deltoid-lanceolate, 3-nerved, 2 mm long, minutely hairy along keels, with an awn arising from the apex; palea linear, 2/3 the length of the lemma. Anther linear, 1.5 mm long.
