Culm tufted. Blade about 7 cm long by 2 mm wide, covered with long silky hairs; ligule a fringe of hairs, about 0.8 mm long: Inflorescence a small open panicle, about 7 cm long. Spikelets about 11-flowered, about 5 mm long by l.l mm wide, oblanceolate; rachilla zigzag-shaped; glumes chartaceous, 1-nerved, lanceolate; the lower glume emarginate or obtuse at the apex, 0.8 mm long; the upper obtuse at the apex, about 1.2 mm long; lemma ovate, chartaceous, margins membranous, 3-nerved, about 1.8 mm long, mucronate, deciduous; palea oblanceolate, emarginate, 2-keeled, minutely ciliate along keels, about 1.6 mm long, persistent. Caryopsis ovate, about 0.8 mm long; embryo 1/2 the length of the caryopsis.
