無芒鴨嘴草

Culm geniculate, about 2.5 mm in diameter, conspicuously noded. Blade brownish-red, 7-8 cm long by 1 cm wide, petiolate, hirsute on both surfaces; ligule truncate, about 0.3 mm long; sheath hirsute. Racemes 2, not exceeding the uppermost sheath, about 2.5 cm long. Spikelets paired, more or less similar, the upper pedicellate, the lower sessile, lanceolate, about 7 mm long; rachis swollen and winged. Lower glume coriaceous, broadly lanceolate, as long as the spikelet, 2-keeled and winged on the upper part, inconspicuously numerous-nerved and tessellate nerved; upper glume coriaceous, broadly lanceolate and boat-shaped, 1-keeled and winged on the upper back, pointed, margins membranous and fimbriate. Lower floret subcoriaceous, about 6 mm long; lemma lanceolate, margins slightly inrolled, fimbriate; palea lanceolate, 2-keeled, margins membranous, fimbriate. Upper floret membranous, brownish-red; lemma boat-shaped, with 2 conspicuous lateral nerves, shortly aristate, upper margins fimbriate; palea linear-lanceolate, 2-keeled, fimbriate along margins, anthers about 2.3 mm long.

Distributed in the Ryukyus, Taiwan, Indo-Malaysia and North Australia.

This is a littoral plant.
