Clum long creeping, stoloniferous, forming mats, flowering clum 5-20 cm tall. Blade lanceolate, 2-
5 cm long, 3-6 mm wide; sheath ciliate on margin, 1/2 as long as internode; ligule a row of hairs, 0.5-
1mm long. Inflorescence a terminal one-sided raceme, enclosed by a spathe. Spikelets puberulent.similar, upper slightly firmer. Fertile spikelet with glumes and lower lemma similar to staminate spikelet.
Upper floret perfect or pistillate, smooth and shiny.
Madagascar, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Indochina, Malesia, Australia, southern China and the
Ryukyus. Taiwan, in sandy seashores.
