Culm slender, widely creeping, branching at the lower nodes, nodes pubescent. Leaves small, 2-2.5 cm long by 3-5 mm wide, hispid, ovate-lanceolate, acute, nerveless or nearly so, margins not thickened; sheath sparingly hairy; ligule a ring ot hairs. Panicle small, a few flowered; pedicel short, with hard and thickened tip. Spikelets 1.5-1.9 mm long, glabrous, rarely sparingly setose; glumes hispid, 5- or more nerved; florets dimorphic: the lower one glabrous, about 1.8 mmm long papery; the upper one pubescent, about 1.4 mm long, indurate; anthers about 1.4 mm long; caryopsis plano-convexed, the hilum linear.
Distributed in India and Southeast Asia, and extending to China.
Locally this is of rare occurence in swampy places on low hillsides. No Taiwan specimens have been collected by the present author.
