Andropogon shimadae Ohwi, Act. Phytotax. Geobot. 4: 58. 1935, 11: 168. 1942. Culm prostrate. Blade linear, about 11 cm long by 2 mm wide; ligule membranous, about 0.4 mm long, truncate and minutely fimbriate. Inflorescence a single raceme, about 3 cm long. Spikelets paired, dimorphic, the upper pedicelled, reduced, the lower about 3.2 mm long; rachis-joint sericeous. Lower glume chartaceous, margins slightly folded, 5-nerved, shortly 2-toothed, lanceolate, about 3 mm long; upper glume chartaceous, margins folded, slightly fimbriate, 1-nerved, about 3.2 mm long. Lower floret reduced. Upper floret membranous, about 2.5 mm long; lemma deeply 2-cleft, with a flexuous awn about 3 times the length of the lemma, arising from the sinus; palea deltoid-lanceolate, 2-keeled, margins fimbriate.

NANTOU: Nantou, Shimada 4754.

This grass is found on the hillside in the central and southern parts of Taiwan. Rare.
