Plant pubescent all over. Blade about 10 cm long by 5 mm wide; ligule about1.8 mm long, tongue-like, fimbriate on upper margin, hispid on the back. Racemes 2, about 8 cm long. Spikelets paired, more or less similar, the upper pedicellate, the lower sessile and fertile, about 5.5 mm long; rachis-joint and pedicel slender, not thickened. Lower glume as long as the spikelet, transversely rugose, coriaceous, 2-keeled, ciliate along keels, numerous-nerved; upper glume subcoriaceous, numerous-nerved, anastomosing at the apex; as long as the lower glume. Lower floret lanceolate, about 4.5 mm long, lemmas and palea 2-keeled, hyaline; lemma 5-nerved. Upper floret about 3 mm long, hyaline; upper lemma 2-cleft, aristate, palea 2-keeled, oblong. Caryopsis about 0.7 mm long, oblong; embryo 1/2 the length of the caryopsis.
