Shortly rhizomatous plant, 30-50 cm. Stem leafy. Basal leaves ovate to oblong, long-petiolate, 10 cm long; stem leaves decreasing in size, base rounded or cordate, sessile. Flowers violet, in dense whorls, capitate. V - mid-spring to autumn, in St. Petersburg May-September. Fl - June for 3 weeks. Fr - August. P - by clump division and by seed. Flowering the second year after sowing. Z 4. New.
Caucasus (all regions except Talysh), Turkey and Iran. Meadows in alpine and subalpine zone.
