Annual or perennial herbs or shrubs. Transection of stems circle, simple hairs to glabrate, woody in age. Leaves solitary or paired, 21.3-78 mm long, 10.4-33 mm wide, apically shout acuminate or acute, basally narrowed, entire, glabrate; petiole velutinous, 4-15 mm long. Flowers mostly solitary in leaf axils; pedicel 6.7-20 mm long. Calyx copular,undulate or denticulate 2-3 mm long; sepal 2.2-5 mm long, 1.3-3 mm wide; petal mostly bent at apex 2-2.8 mm long, 1-2mm wide. Anthers purplish 1.2-3 mm long, 0.7-0.9 mm wide, style surface glabrate. Fruit Berry red (orange, yellow, or purple in cultivation), variously shaped, 10.4-16 mm long, 3.7-6 mm across; pedicel 11.7-25 mm long; sepal persistence, upward. seeds numerous, pale yellow, discoid or reniform, 3-5 mm across.
